Chestermere Project

In the heart of Chestermere Lake, Alberta, the Chestermere Project stands as a testament to sustainable living and modern innovation. Completed in the spring of 2023, this residential project harnesses the power of the sun to provide domestic hot water and in-floor heating, alongside significant electric utility savings.

Innovative Solar Solutions

Featuring 26 Solar Electric PV panels totaling 12 Kilowatts, installed by our esteemed partner, Greenlight Power, and powered by a SolarEdge Grid-Tied string inverter, this project exemplifies cutting-edge solar technology. Complementing the electric setup, we integrated 2 Solar Thermal Collectors, adding an additional 4.8 Kilowatts or 16,000 BTU per hour of solar heating.

Originally planned for the roof's peak, strategic adjustments led us to mount the solar thermal collectors at a 60° angle on the south end of the garage roof. This not only optimized solar harvesting but also protected the system from snow and hail, ensuring close proximity to the utility room for enhanced system efficiency.

Efficient Heating and Savings

The system's heart lies in its two 200-liter solar hot water tanks, equipped with external heat exchangers, which share heat with the in-floor heating system. This innovative design reduces the furnace's workload, offering radiant heat throughout the home.

Our client was totally thrilled with the efficiency and effectiveness of both the solar electric and solar thermal systems. The ability to save on gas and electric utilities has been a game-changer.

Collaborative Expertise

The success of the Chestermere Project was further amplified by our collaboration with Merit Mechanical, a renowned plumbing company based in Calgary. Their expertise, innovative ideas, and skilled execution played a pivotal role in realizing this project's full potential.

This project not only represents a significant step towards sustainable residential living but also demonstrates the power of collaboration and innovation in the renewable energy sector. The Chestermere Project is a beacon of how integrated solar solutions can lead to a more sustainable and cost-effective future.
